Invite people

Add someone to a network with an invite link or an email invite, choose their role, and know what happens when they accept.

Invites are how you add a specific person to a network. Creating them requires the Owner, Admin or IT admin role.

Create an invite

  1. Open Members and click Invite.

  2. The Invite to network dialog shows how many seats your plan has left. If it says No seats available, upgrade or remove a member first.

  3. Choose a tab:

    1. Choose a role. The default is Member.
    2. Click Create invite link and copy the link.
    3. Send it to the person yourself.

    Via email

    1. Enter the address in To, choose a Role, and optionally add a Note.
    2. Click Send invite. Peerlify emails the link from no-reply@peerlify.com.

Invites expire after 7 days and work once. The Owner role can't be given by invite; to make someone Owner, transfer ownership after they join. IT admin, Network admin, Billing admin and Auditor are for Business and Enterprise plans. An IT admin can only invite people as Member; the Owner and Admins can invite to any role except Owner.

Link invites work for whoever opens them

An invite sent by email can only be accepted by someone signed in with that email address, through a sign-in method that has verified it: GitHub (a verified address on the GitHub account), Google or Apple (a verified address), a Microsoft work or school account whose organization owns the address's domain, or single sign-on that marks the address verified, for an address at the domain the single sign-on was registered for. Personal Microsoft accounts (outlook.com, hotmail.com) can't accept email invites; send them a link. An invite link can be accepted by anyone who has it, at the role it grants. Send links privately, and revoke ones you no longer need.

What the invited person does

  1. They open the link. If they aren't signed in to Peerlify, they sign in or create an account first. A new account also gets its own personal network.
  2. Peerlify adds them to your network with the role from the invite.

If they were already a member, the invite is used up and their role doesn't change.

If an invite can't be used, they see Couldn't join: it may have expired (This invite link has expired. Ask an admin for a new one.), been used already, or, for email invites, been sent to a different address (This invite was sent to a different email address. …) or to an address their sign-in method hasn't verified (Your sign-in provider hasn't verified this email address. Sign in with a provider that has, or ask for a link invite.).

Members don't see the network in the console

People with the Member role can use the network from their devices, but the console doesn't show them the network. After accepting, a Member sees their own network, or No networks yet if they have none. They add devices with peerlify login, which lists every network they belong to. See Add a device.

Manage pending invites

Pending invites appear in the Members list. To cancel one, open its ⋯ menu and choose Revoke invite. You can't change the role of a pending invite; revoke it and create a new one.

Automatic joining

Some people join networks without an invite, based on how they sign in: members of a GitHub organization, people from your organization's Microsoft Entra tenant, colleagues from your Google Workspace, and people who sign in through your company's single sign-on. See How you get networks. There is no setting that admits everyone from an email domain.
